About Us

MAIEUTICA is the outcome of a research programme led by Professor Paolo Quattrone with the support of Dr Julian W Jones, Dr Matteo Ronzani and Kefei Wu at the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. 

The MAIEUTIC INDEX has been developed thanks to a collaboration with the Infrastructure and Project Authority (IPA) in the context of a research programme called ‘The power and limitations of data in speed of decision making’. The project aimed at developing the architecture of an index to allow project managers to conduct a holistic review of the quality and maturity of their decision-making practices and asses their capacity to deal with ambiguity, radical uncertainty and emerging challenges. Also, to support a unitary policy framework for inclusion in the IPA Project Delivery Framework to enable improvements in the maturity and speed of decision making.

Comments received during the fieldwork, testing and feedback stages on the intended target audience resulted in the original beneficiaries being extended to business case-to-signoff, critical friend reviews and significant change of scope discussions. We recognise SROs, PDs and their teams will find their own value, beyond these.
